# Connect to databases

{% hint style="info" %}
Make sure to include our IP address (**35.212.87.86**) to your firewall’s whitelist.
{% endhint %}

To connect to a database—whether as a [source](https://docs.erathos.com/platform/connections) or a [destination](https://docs.erathos.com/destinations)—you need to ensure that the database is accessible from the **Erathos infrastructure**. To establish this connection:

1. **Firewall Configuration**:
   * Allow the Erathos IP (e.g., **35.212.87.86**) in your database's firewall settings. This step ensures that the infrastructure can reach your database.
2. **Tunneling Credentials**:
   * If the connection requires a tunnel (e.g., SSH or VPN), make sure the tunnel credentials are properly registered on the platform.
   * This involves providing the necessary details such as host, port, username, and private key (if applicable).
